On Saturday, November 22, 2008, the Mohegan Tribal Health Department, Quinn & Gellar Marketing and The Day will present Healthy Habits Showcase, an interactive health, safety and fitness expo in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun. This fourth annual health show is free and open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm. The event has become one of the largest and most innovative health expositions in southern New England.
Healthy Habits Showcase will cater to the health care needs of thousands of consumers with 100 exhibitors, displays and demonstrations in our 40,000 square foot showroom. Weight loss and nutrition counselors will be on hand as well as fitness instructors and personal trainers. Doctors from a variety of medical fields will be available to address specific health questions and concerns. Support groups and helpful information on a wide range of diseases and disorders will also be available.
Many people do not take the time for regular medical check-ups and periodic health screenings. Healthy Habits Showcase brings the health screenings to you! The screenings are available at no charge. Coordination is provided by United Community and Family Services. A comprehensive list of recommended screenings will be made available at the registration desk at the entrance to Uncas Ballroom. They will include blood pressure, dental, glucose, vision, hearing and orthopedic screenings. One of the show’s biggest draws are influenza and pneumonia vaccinations. These shots will be made available for a small fee, depending upon insurance coverage.
Healthy Habits Showcase also features a Speaker’s Program, a Kidz Safety Trail and a variety of health related demonstrations. A number of important physical and mental health topics will be addressed by health care professionals. Parents and their children will learn important lessons about health and safety in their homes.
Fabulous door prizes will be awarded by random drawing throughout the show. A grand prize will be announced just before 4:00 pm. To be eligible to win this prize, you may pre-register in advance at www.healthyhabitsshowcase.com.
